Departure by express train from Saint Petersburg to Petrozavodsk. Meeting with the guide. Transfer to a 4 * hotel and accommodation.
Breakfast at the hotel. City-tour in the capital of Karelia, Petrozavodsk (“Peter's Factory”), which was founded in 1703 by Peter I the Great as a support base for the founding of Saint Petersburg. Transfer to the port and departure by airboat for an excursion on the island of Khizi (1 hour and 15 minutes, on Lake Onega). Visit of the museum-reserve, the Church of the Suffrage and ethnographic exhibition. In the evening return to Petrozavodsk, transfer to the hotel and accommodation.
In the early morning departure towards the city of Sortavala (260 km). Breakfast during the trip. Arrival in Sortavala and departure by airboat for an excursion to the island of Valaam (50 minutes, on Lake Ladoga). During the excursion we will see the central monastery and the Cathedral of the Transfiguration, which houses the relics of Saints Sergius and Herman, founders of the monastery. Lunch in the refectory, later departure by hovercraft for an excursion on the island called “New Jerusalem”. Walking tour of the Church of the Resurrection and Skiti Gethsemane, the Mount of Olives. Return to Sortavala and transfer to Petrozavodsk and departure to Saint Petersburg with the night train.
