Yekaterinburg is the capital of the Urals, a modern, dynamically developing city. It deservedly has the status of the main scientific, cultural, industrial, and business center of the Sverdlovsk region. Located on the eastern slope of the Ural Mountains, on the border of Europe and Asia, Yekaterinburg ranks fourth among Russian cities in terms of population and is included in the list of historical centers of Russia. Yekaterinburg is the capital of the most dynamically developing region of Russia, the largest regional financial and service center in the Urals. The Yekaterinburg Stock Exchange ranks third in the country in terms of the volume of transactions. In addition, it is one of the largest cultural centers in the country, in the cultural space of which all kinds of cultural and artistic institutions are united. The architectural appearance of Yekaterinburg, the capital of the mining region, which dates back to its history since the 18th century, has preserved many interesting architectural monuments. The buildings of the 18th-19th centuries, as well as buildings of the Soviet era, which are vivid examples of constructivism and other styles of that period, give a special charm to the historical center of the city. There are several dozen different museums in the city, the expositions of which acquaint guests of the city with its rich history and various aspects of development. Winter

Winters in Yekaterinburg begin in late November and early December and they are cold and long. The average winter temperature is about -16 - ... -17 ° C. From December to February, the air temperature can drop to -40 ° C. The first snow falls in early October and completely covers the city in a white blanket only in November. It started to melt only in April.
